ANOTHER 1960’S COTTON DRESS! HOW CUTE IS THIS . . . . . . . . . . . . ..

IMG_5261

A frock with some of the best elements of 1960’s casual style – soft cotton fabric, empire styling, ric-rac trim, vintage sculpted buttons and gathered sleeves.  So comfy and can go from house-dress to patio party to any basic everyday event.

I’m suddenly on a roll again.  Not sure when the next find may be but, you just never know . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

PRETTY SUMMER PURSE FROM THE 1960’S OR 1970’S – MADE IN THE PHILLIPINES

IMG_5253

This little handbag shows the best of the trademarks of it’s time.  Crocheted cover and full lining.  Handmade.  The natural bamboo frame is lovely and the medium size with inside pocket makes it very practical.

Although I have others similar, this example was special enough to make me snap it up.  One this clean and undamaged, especially with a needlework cover, is a super-rare find!  But, doesn’t surprise me – you just never know . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

“NEW” FIND TODAY – 1960’S VERY LADY-LIKE PATIO FROCK

IMG_5252

Yes, it’s a summer dress but how could I resist?  We don’t usually find them with all these pretty details – a very Victorian Prairie thing for a hot-weather girl.  Looks like it was commercially-made, but there are no tags.  I may end up selling it next year but, you just never know . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . .

PROBABLY FROM THE 1940’S – A LOVELY HANDBAG IN SILK, BY ROSENFELD

A very pretty fabric handbag in faille on the outside and satin on the inside both, I believe, of silk.  With hardly any wear, the inside is pristine.  I love the kiss clasp inset with black cabochons and the sculptured metal frame.

So, that’s what I’ve been doing on the side in the past few days.  What next?  You just never know . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

RECENT FINDS – HERE COME THE HANDBAGS

IMG_5161

Remember this reptile handbag that you saw hanging on Stella’s arm in yesterday’s post?  Well, here’s a close-up and it’s even more gorgeous than in this picture.  A beautifully-made bag by Lesco, with a tan leather interior and the finishing touches that you would expect in a fine accessory item from the 1950’s.  Yes, I also have similar handbags already, but not a black one!

And, that’s not all.  There’s another one coming tomorrow.  Stay tuned . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

ANOTHER FIND – LOVELY KENNEDY ERA FINE SUEDE COAT WITH MINK COLLAR

IMG_5160

Yes, I know that I already have several of these but this example was just too good to pass up.  Beautiful, beautiful condition and it’s the ONLY one I have that has a tie belt!  As always, the tailoring is gorgeous and the materials of such high quality.  The styling is elegant, but also fashionable and versatile.  Like some of my others, the mink collar has been attached by hand so it’s really easy to snip it off and wear the coat with scarves or shawls instead.

True vintage coats are some of the most elegant and unique statement pieces that you can wear.  Plus, they’re one of the smartest buys.  Everyone needs at least one good coat. The retro  versions are pretty much worthless so don’t pass by the coat rack next time you’re shopping for true vintage fashion. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

MOD 1960’S NYLON HALF-SLIP

IMG_5140

I’ve got lots of beautiful vintage lingerie, so I’m not in the habit of picking up lots of slips now – BUT – I don’t have a single one with this wonderful mid-Sixties Mod print!  Didn’t take me long to grab this one.

It’s in beautiful condition, so I’ll enjoy wearing it for decades – maybe as a skirt next summer.  The label is so worn from washing that the brand name is no longer legible but I can see that it is “100% Nylon”.  Seems like that was kind of a big deal at one time.

Such fun, and a new thing for me!
