Love sweaters and knits? Our grandmothers wore them year-round! Here’s a beautiful example . . . . . .

A TRUE VINTAGE KNITTED SWEATER CAPE BY BANFF, FROM THE 1960'S OR EARLY '70'S

These types of sweaters/capes/ponchos were popular in the ’60’s and a lot of women knitted them themselves. This one is made by the Banff company, which produced a lot of really nice knits. I have a beaded sweater, knit dresses and suits by them, too.

The greatest feature, to me, is the armholes that allow you to have hands free. Any cape with this design is wonderful because it raises the convenience level big time!

Another nice thing is the button front. Also convenient. The fringe is lovely and the acrylic yarn also great because it washes so nicely and gives warmth but doesn’t have the weight and care issues of most wool items.

Sweet little sweater things, whether cardigans, pull-overs, jackets & coats, dresses and skirts, etc. were really popular in the ’60’s and early ’70’s and are very different from the things made now.

I love finding these beautiful…

TRUE VINTAGE SWING DRESS FROM THE 1940'S

A lovely swing dress, of two layers, with a circle skirt and lace mesh overlay. This is so pretty!

It’s got a v-neck front and back, with a long side zipper. It swings and sways and such a flattering fit. I just love that cafe au lait color.

I believe that the fabric is rayon, at least for the dress underneath. That fabric was SO commonly used during the ’40’s. It can pose some care issues, but it has such nice qualities otherwise that it’s usually worth it.

This is not a Here I am. Look at ME!! dress, but once you’re seen, you won’t be forgotten. Best not to choose it when you’re going incognito . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

A GORGEOUS TAILORED DRESSY FROCK – TRUE VINTAGE FROM THE SIXTIES

This dress is beautiful.  Despite it’s clean and unassuming lines, it is beautifully tailored.

Of black velveteen, it’s a party or dressy-occasion frock.  Fully lined, with nice details at the hem, waist and sleeves.  It’s the type of dress that might have been worn to a Homecoming dance or party, a recital or special dinner event.

Even though the style is “plain” (read Elegant), I love finding garments of such high quality because they stand out on that basis alone.  It really gives me a lot of pleasure to wear clothing like this.  Of course, I always love black . . …. …
