This little nightie can also double as a housedress. It’s made in two layers, so no need to feel your modesty is compromised. What a girly, pretty thing to wear around the house and I doubt anyone would complain if you ran out for a quart of milk.
Like my other recent finds, it’s early mid-century and has a label that I have rarely seen, which makes it all the more fun . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I know, I know, I know. I’ve collected a ton of vintage slips, etc., but these are beautiful and to some degree unusual. The full slips are really old ones (early 1950’s or before) and are delicious to wear under dresses but they both are opaque enough and styled right to be worn as little dresses themselves. As long as your bra and panties are correct for the look, they can be flirty sundresses or club-wear.

Love this pretty frock. The rayon(?) weave drapes so nicely and the embroidery is gorgeous. The belted style with cap sleeves is very flattering and front buttons make it very easy to dress.
This garment was modestly-priced back in the day as the construction is not high-end, but even in these everyday items the vintage makers usually tailored really well. That is one of the delights of finding and wearing day dresses like this one. I have dresses and a couple of coats trimmed with fur on the sleeves and a a couple of coats with fur around the hems but this is my first find of a dressy dress with this kind of trim. Made in a 1950’s style, but I think it is from the 1970’s (maybe the 1960’s). How unusual!
Very much of-the-season in perfect plush velvet for all the holiday party activities that about to crowd our calendars. What an entrance I’d make to an evening Thanksgiving dinner. Hmmm. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The most interesting dress – by Lawrence Kazar New York and it looks like a “daring” mid-’60’s design to me, but may be 1980’s as I can’t find any earlier history on this designer. The fit is slinky and small but the armholes are cut very low and it’s styled to wear without a bra. That’s a trick to do effectively but this design succeeds. If your dimensions are right, it’s a knockout!!
Besides the bra-less top, the most distinctive feature is the peek-a-boo waistline which was sometimes seen around 1965 or so. It’s very nicely tailored and such a gorgeous color. So, Mod or Dynasty, I really couldn’t care less. Oh, James . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

What a beautiful Kennedy era party frock. With beads and rhinestones at the waist, and a swing and sway two-layer skirt. This dress is made by Carol Craig, New York – a well-known brand name of the time.

A frock with some of the best elements of 1960’s casual style – soft cotton fabric, empire styling, ric-rac trim, vintage sculpted buttons and gathered sleeves. So comfy and can go from house-dress to patio party to any basic everyday event.

Yes, it’s a summer dress but how could I resist? We don’t usually find them with all these pretty details – a very Victorian Prairie thing for a hot-weather girl. I’ve got lots of beautiful vintage lingerie, so I’m not in the habit of picking up lots of slips now – BUT – I don’t have a single one with this wonderful mid-Sixties Mod print! Didn’t take me long to grab this one.
It’s in beautiful condition, so I’ll enjoy wearing it for decades – maybe as a skirt next summer. The label is so worn from washing that the brand name is no longer legible but I can see that it is “100% Nylon”. Seems like that was kind of a big deal at one time.
Such fun, and a new thing for me!
