FLORIDA FEET!

FLORIDA FEET!

Gotta have for summer!  Original vintage low-heeled pumps found in the Miami area. From the late Sixties – early Seventies. One pair more casual, one pair a bit dressy.
Both a little bit mod . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

TRUE VINTAGE 1960’S STILETTO SLING-BACK HEELS FOR 3-SEASONS – FABRIC AND LEATHER FROM JOHANSEN

STILETTO SLING-BACK HEELS FOR SUMMER - FABRIC AND LEATHER FROM JOHANSEN AGAIN

This is one of my favorite true vintage styles in warm weather shoes.  The fabric uppers and openness are so breezy, cool and feminine.   They are such a cross between dressy and casual that they are very versatile and will look just right almost any time.

I’ve found lots of lovely true vintage shoe styles by Johansen since I’ve been sleuthing and they’re always dependably elegant and well-made. Such a pleasure to find and to wear . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . ..

TRUE VINTAGE SHOES BY JOYCE – 1960’S COLORFUL FLATS

TRUE VINTAGE SHOES BY JOYCE - 1960'S COLORFUL FLATS

I’ve found a number of mid-century true vintage sporty-type items by Joyce.  One label said Joyce of Chicago, so maybe the same company.  Some companies have changed their labels somewhat over the years.

These flats are leather, of course, but only the uppers and interiors.  The soles are a good synthetic like Vibram (will last for decades).  I always love cut-out styles and these carnival colors are so much fun!

Just the ticket to wear with capris, cigarette pants, a cute dress or skirt – or shorts.  ’60’s casual fashions were all about playful and surprising.  The ’50’s certainly have those moments, too, in a BIG way but, overall, there’s more loyalty to the conservative classics in the 1950’s.

With the closed toe and elegant styling, these  “summer” shoes are easily worn Spring through Fall.  My main challenge here  is finding the right clothing  and colors to accompany them.  But, there is always black or white . . . . . . . . . . . .

VERY RARE!! TRUE VINTAGE 1940’S – 1950’S SATIN WEDDING PUMPS

IMG_0855
These are the perfect shoes to be worn with the wedding suit shown yesterday.  Can you imagine a pair of white satin pumps at least 60 years old staying in this condition?  Who knows how long they were out of the original owner’s safekeeping?  Amazing!!   I found these beautiful fabric shoes clean enough to be worn again as is.

Fun ’40’s/’50’s styling and beautiful leather soles that make them good forever.  They also carry a mysterious story of a very special and formal occasion.  I wonder where and when it was . . . . .

FABULOUS TRUE VINTAGE FIFTIES SLINGBACK SANDALS!!!

FABULOUS TRUE VINTAGE FIFTIES FIND YESTERDAY!!!

Perfect, barely – worn, sling-back peep-toe sandals from the mid-1950’s. My day is absolutely made every time I discover another treasure like these!  Yes, there’s enough green here, too, to qualify for St. Patrick’s Day.

100% leather soles with fabric uppers in an abstract floral print of blues, greens and beige. Unusual and gorgeous.

These are “Tweedies” brand, stamped in gold on the black leather insole of the right foot, with the local shoe store’s name stamped in gold on the insole of the left. I’ve found that it was often done this way back in the day.

Oh, what will be around the next corner? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

TRUE VINTAGE ANDREW GELLER STILETTO HEELS FROM THE 1960'S

In the original bags from Saks Fifth Avenue – what a find! These fabric – upper heels are so beautiful and well-made.

In a swirly, abstract print of browns and greens, they could work with your dark green dress.  Leather soles, of course.

What more can I say? . . . . . . . . . . . . .

PERFECT TRUE VINTAGE EARLY ’60S STILLETTOS FOR THE VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY

PERFECT TRUE VINTAGE EARLY '60S STILLETTOS FOR THE vALENTINE'S PARTY

Since we’re doing accessories this Valentine’s Day, there are such a sweet collection of things to wear to a holiday party in my closet! These pink patent stilettos are some of my favorites.

From the Mad Men – Kennedy era, these pumps are beautiful 100% leather from top to bottom. No wonder they’ve lasted 50 years, and can go a lot longer. It’s hard (impossible?) to find modern shoes of this quality, so I always prefer my true vintage ones. They’re usually more comfortable, too.

I’ve got lots of lovely vintage shoes because I’m always finding them. You just never know . . . .

TRUE VINTAGE 1940’S OR ’50’S SATIN & LEATHER PLATFORM HOUSE-SLIPPERS

TRUE VINTAGE 1940'S OR '50'S SATIN & LEATHER PLATFORM HOUSE-SLIPPERS

Imagine gliding around the house in these, wearing your newest peignoir and gown or a lovely hostess ensemble.  At-home leisure wear became a significant part of many North American and European women’s wardrobes in the 1900’s.  In the mid-century decades when movies gained popularity  sophistication and glamour were very important to the average gal.

These are so much fun!  Platform shoes have always been a favorite of mine (since they came out in a fashion revival for the 3rd or 4th time in history!)  For me, nothing can beat 1940’s and early 1950’s footwear.  And, to find a pair in excellent condition is always a dream come true.

Although these are a decade or two older than the hostess gowns I’ve found lately, their classic elegance would make them wearable with either of them.  That’s the beauty of the best . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

NEW FIND! 1960’S PUMPS BY JOYCE

img_3855.jpg

Aren’t these the sweetest things!  Just love them.  Nothing much is cuter than 1960’s shoes.  Very Audrey Hepburn.

The Joyce company made nice sportswear during the 1960’s – worth a pick-up if you find anything true vintage by that label.  As always, be wary of cheaper latecomers . . . . . . . . .
