MOD BLACK AND WHITE SHOES FROM THE MID 1960'S - SPECTATOR STYLE

A pair of, low-heeled classic quasi-spectator-style Mod pumps.  Black and white is always “in”, and is always de la mode.  Very practical for any Sixties – era outfit.  You can also dance the night away in comfort.

This pair is by the famous maker Florsheim, a quality name for decades.  Looks great Spring, Summer or Fall.  Probably in Winter, too.  A classic’s a classic, right?

TRUE VINTAGE FLOWER POWER MID-1960'S DRESS

Someone custom-tailored this dress in about 1965. I put the tie belt around it just for effect, but it is an A-line style, which can be worn belt-less, too.

Although it doesn’t show well in this photo, the neckline is a wide, high scoop with a collar. The material is unusual in that it is fairly heavy and is almost embroidered with the floral pattern – not printed. The style and flower design, plus the back metal zipper, are the clues to its age. Although many copycat styles and designs are on the market now, this one just looks different and you have to have a trained eye and know the details to spot it.

It’s always fun to suddenly see a dress like this, because it immediately transports me to the ’60’s and all the mod and English influence that was popular then. That’s what everybody wore, who was…

VERY PRETTY TRUE VINTAGE MOD MID-SIXTIES DAY DRESS – ANOTHER “NEW” DISCOVERY!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     In a lovely fabric that looks like linen, this dress would have gone to church, to work, shopping or on a date.  It’s a simple, a-line style – so popular then – with stylish seaming around the bust-line and a fold-over collar.

Plus, there is a full lining.  Although this frock can be casual, it is very elegant.  Today it’s difficult to find any dress that would meet these standards unless it is custom-tailored by an expert.

You can see why I love sleuthing for treasures like this one . . . . . . ..

ANOTHER “NEW” TRUE VINTAGE FIND – BACK TO THE MID-SIXTIES AGAIN FOR A FORMAL FROCK

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     This time it’s a formal gown – more like a mother-of-the-bride frock than for Prom, but who knows.  Some girls used to like the more conservative styles.

It has the hallmark Sixties neckline, metal zipper and custom-tailored details of a home-sewn garment.  The sheer butterfly sleeves that create an attached cape over the shoulders of the sleeveless gown are very pretty.  See the back view, where the tail ends tie at the waist.

The skirt is in two layers, with the sheer on top and adds to the float-factor when you walk.  Love the color, too.  Aqua is always a favorite of mine.

So, more and more fun!  I’ve got a couple more recent discoveries from the same era that I’ll show in the next few days and who knows what else is just around the corner . . . . . . . . ..
