Foundation garments were so important in the past – usually more issues to be considered than even now, like garters and boning. Their design was a real art and a science. There are companies now which make “foundation garments” and hosiery in the old style, if you want them. I ran into one in Australia!

Finding true vintage fashion items is not rocket science. Having lots of success at it DOES involve many pieces of knowledge, skill and experience that come together. They seem simple and unexciting by themselves but they have made a big difference in my overall results. Of course, there are more details involved with each one but the basic idea is where to begin.
