A PRETTY EASTER-Y TRUE VINTAGE DRESS FOR SPRING – SEVENTIES DOES THIRTIES

IMG_1223 IMG_1225Another of my last year’s finds.  When I’m traveling, it’s possible only to photograph things on a hanger; but, now that I have the stellar Stella working with me, I can picture them properly.

This dress is made of a lovely, slinky rayon – probably with a hand (feel) a lot like the real ones from the 1930’s.  You can’t beat the drape of a really nice rayon fabric and how it falls over and accentuates the body.

The collar and tie are real stylistic touches from the Thirties era, too, and who can beat that color for the up-coming season?  A really nice retro piece is sometimes worth collecting – especially when it’s also true vintage . . . . .

Yes, I keep pulling out my red dresses for St. Valentine’s, but hey – who cares if it’s “traditional” – they’re FABULOUS!

TRUE VINTAGE LATE 50'S, EARLY '60'S CUSTOM-MADE SILK PARTY DRESS

This luscious dress is another that Madge can’t wear, because of the side zipper at the waist.  Soon, I want to put it (and several others like it) on Stella!  A hanger doesn’t do it justice, but imagine it as it fits – with a fitted waist and very full skirt.

Of 100% silk, with gold accents all over. I believe that it is Asian silk and was probably custom-tailored there for someone from the “West” who was vacationing or living there for a time.

It’s a beautiful dress and I gasped when I discovered it – it also fits me! What a perfect frock for a Valentine’s party or a really special date.

SPRING SHOULDER SEASON SIXTIES SKIRT SUIT - TRY SAYING THAT TWICE!

For Spring or Fall – or any time the temps are in that mid cool-ish range – a lightweight wool knit skirt suit by Butte Knits. I LOVE the olive drab color and the flattering fit.

This is one of a few examples I’ve found of mid-60’s suits like this, or similar. The high-end knits are so comfortable and easy to wear, but ready for just about any setting. It’s also two separates that can easily be paired with other skirts or pants for a different look.

I think my Aussie friends down under would love a garment like it at this time of year . . . . . . . . . . .
