MID – CENTURY TRUE VINTAGE ELEGANCE: WHAT REALLY MAKES THE DIFFERENCE
BARBIES AND KENS FROM THE MID -1960’S – VINTAGE McCALL’S PATTERNS FOR HANDMADE ENSEMBLES
Anyone ever see these vintage dolls? Very different from modern Barbies, and the clothing and accessory outfits made for them were astounding! Full of details and all kinds of extra pieces.
Of course, handicrafters would get in on the trend, and grandma’s have always made clothing for their little grand-daughters’ dolls. Look at the pattern pieces – kind of like the sarong, which is nothing but a plain rectangle but can be wrapped into the most exotic and shapely dresses.
It’s kind of fun to see the mid-century styles on this fantasy icon – THE BARBIE-DOLL!!

NOW BACK AGAIN – 10 OR 20 YEARS. A COTTON HOME-SEWN TRUE VINTAGE FROCK – 1940’S/1950’S
FORWARD 10 YEARS – SAME ERA, TRUE VINTAGE COTTON HOUSE-DRESS FROM THE EARLY 1960’S
Just like the one shown yesterday, I love this style. It’s so comfy and at-home, but still with classic good looks and wonderful fabric. That’s something that can almost always be depended on with true vintage clothing.
In this case, I’m in love with the colors and the soft material. What could be more comfortable in the warm weather to come? Easy to wear and the tie waist makes the fit so custom-perfect every time . . . . . . . ..

TRUE VINTAGE EMERALD EVENING COAT – IN IRISH GREEN
TRUE VINTAGE 1950’S LADIES PLAY OUTFIT

Doesn’t this fit Stella perfectly? I think she’s a 1950’s vintage size 10, as is this lovely ensemble, Modern size XS.
Originally made by a California designer. Fully lined and with the nice tailoring you would expect. Here are the back buttons again, and a metal zipper right in the middle of the back waist. Pants with these fit very nicely. I wonder why they gave it up?
Don’t you love Fifties prints? DRUMS!!! How bizarre and fun. No pockets – just streamlined style. Love it that my vintage KEDS match it exactly!

PRETTY, GIRLY SPRING BLOUSE – TRUE VINTAGE 1950’S
Very sheer, floral print blouse with a bow tie (how old-style can you get?!) It also buttons up the back, as most better true vintage blouses did. This one is originally from Canada.
It’s so nice to have the plain front, without buttons. Pays to be very flexible so that you can button it yourself – but, it’s so nice to have someone to do that for you (a lover, a friend, a lady’s maid . . . . . . . . .)
