A FAVORITE COTTON 1940's - 1950'S SHIRTWAIST DRESS - HAPPY DAYS!

I love the colors of this dress. Blues and violets in a funny, abstract print that looks like computer cards from back in the day. It’s a happy dress that reminds me of the show Happy Days.

There’s no label, so it might have been home-made, but done so well that who would care? I was just watching a movie about swing dancing and saw a lot of frocks that looked like this.

Swing dancing is one of the most joyful things I can imagine . . . . . . . . . .

HERE’S ONE OF MY CIRCLE SKIRTS FROM THE 1950’S – IN AN ATOMIC PRINT

ANOTHER OF MY CIRCLE SKIRTS IN AN ATOMIC PRINT FROM THE 1950'S

Hanger by hanger, moving on through my closet, a true vintage atomic print skirt in a lightweight cotton, so it really moves. That’s an advantage of the circle cut, especially for dancing.

Nothing could be nicer on a hot summer day or any other time from Spring to Fall, with the right additions. The top shown with it is a nice faux linen thing but is not true vintage. I paired them because of the color match, which can be tricky with aqua.

It’s blue, green and black with little satellite-looking things on a white background. Side metal zipper and button closure, with a built-in side-seam pocket for convenience.
Embroidered label says “Nelly de Grab New York”.

This is one of the few items which I have found on the Internet. Online is not my first choice for shopping, because I love my feet-on-the-ground investigating, but it is certainly a…

WHAT I WORE YESTERDAY - 1940'S OR '50'S CIRCLE SKIRT AND BLOUSE

I’ve shown a circle skirt or two before. Here’s one of my favorites! In a farm theme print, with colors that segue into Fall. Novelty prints on old fabrics are wonderful!!

Coral color is a favorite of mine. This blouse is not really old (1970’s or maybe 1960’s). I dyed it, because I had other blouses of the same hue. Turned out a PERFECT match for this skirt!

Soft cotton from years of wear and washing – I believe that the skirt is home sewn, but very well. It has an inside tab at the waist that buttons, with two choices for size. At the sides, there are tabs that pull through two rings, allowing you to tighten the waist to fit. One side pocket.

Simple design, easy wear. I really love the adjustability of the waistline.

The print shows horses and wagons and trees, a barn. I wear this…
