A FAVORITE TRUE VINTAGE ALMOST WIGGLE DRESS FROM THE 1950’S

A FAVORITE TRUE VINTAGE ALMOST WIGGLE DRESS FROM THE 1950'S

This is another dress from the 1950’s that I wear often, because I really like the fit. It’s not tight enough to qualify as a true “wiggle dress”, I’d say, but it’s very flattering. And, a fit that’s not too tight is much more versatile and, many would say, even sexier. I think so.

It is really a simple day dress, cut well. The big pearlized buttons are such a fun addition to the style. The slightly-wider belt also accents the waist a little more.

These neutral black/white tones can go any time of year . . . . . . . . . .

VERY SPECIAL TRUE VINTAGE 1940’S RAYON BLOUSE

VERY SPECIAL TRUE VINTAGE 1940'S RAYON BLOUSE

Although I’ve been showing lots of blouses in collections, here’s another one that I’m posting by itself because it is so unique and fabulous. It’s from the ’40s and certainly not my best color, but I wear it anyway. Wouldn’t you?

Brown embroidered edging around the collar and yoke, front and back. Brown vintage plastic buttons, an elongated wing collar and some attitude.

I currently wear this with a calf-length print skirt or a pair of brown suede jeans. It would look fabulous with a pencil skirt, too.

There’s some Western – style feel to it, which was popular for a while during the Forties. Lots of fashions of that decade owe it all to the movies. This was also true in the ’30’s.

Well, another example of the sort of sporty-classic-business-like styles that often, but not exclusively, appeal to me. That is, when I don’t feel like a princess, or a rock star, or I’m not in need of a disguise . . . . . . . . . . . ..

Here are a collection of my blouses in slightly heavier fabrics that will go 3 – 4 seasons. Perfect as the weather starts to get cooler.  They are all from the 1940’s and 1950’s.

#1 is a striped beauty from Mode ‘0 Day. I love the collar on this, especially, and the interesting red and grey stripe.

#2 is rayon with a fun print, from the ’40’s. I love these funny old fabrics and designs.

#3 is a Bobbie Brooks gingham, probably from the ’40’s, also. It has little decorative pockets on the front.

#4 is a cotton lovely classic, ending just at the waist.  A 1940’s or early 1950’s style.  Interesting possibilities to wear this one with skirts, slacks or shorts.

It’s such fun to find a separate like these.  I never pass them up – so intriguing . . . . . . ….
