PRETTY, GIRLY SPRING BLOUSE – TRUE VINTAGE 1950’S

IMG_1382Very sheer, floral print blouse with a bow tie (how old-style can you get?!)  It also buttons up the back, as most better true vintage blouses did.  This one is originally from Canada.

It’s so nice to have the plain front, without buttons.  Pays to be very flexible so that you can button it yourself – but, it’s so nice to have someone to do that for you (a lover, a friend, a lady’s maid . . . . . . . . .)

VERY SPECIAL AUSTRALIA FIND – UNIQUE AND BEAUTIFUL COUTURE BLOUSE

IMG_1174This lovely blouse is not true vintage – it is retro, having been made within the past 20 years by a small designer.  I strayed from my usual requirements when I saw it because it reflects so many of the qualities that I love in true vintage garments.

The design is elegant, unusual and reminiscent of fashions from the 1930’s, 1940’s and 1950’s.  The fabric is something like rayon – very pretty – and there are tailoring details which were done by hand.

I can definitely see wearing this with true vintage skirts, slacks and suits.  Those of you who collect and wear vintage like I do know that the closet door is always open for more great shirts and blouses.

TRUE VINTAGE MOD-ERA LATE 1960'S BLOUSE BY SYBIL

A rare find – one of those mystery synthetic garments from the 1960’s. Seems kind of like polyester, but then . . . . . . .

Not to disparage at all – it’s a really nice fabric but I just can’t place it. There were some
very interesting blends back in the day before content
labels were required.

What attracted me most was the style – those beautiful crystal-pleated ruffles are eye-catchers. Ruffles on the front and sleeves were very popular in the late 60’s, usually in a slightly less opulent form than this – a bit too frilly for me, but stunning on the right person.

Picture Twiggy wearing this with a black mini-skirt, lacy black patterned tights, some spiffy mod heels and bold eye make-up and lipstick – with an evening purse – you get the idea. About the time that Mod and Carnaby Street fashions were…
