Two-tone beige pumps can be worn virtually any time of year, with almost anything. Notice the cut-out and applique’ detail – and, of course, with genuine leather uppers.
You’ll probably want to wait until June to start wearing your white pumps with pretty summer frocks or suits. These are in leather, also, by a famous maker of true vintage footwear, Red Cross Shoes.
Although very classic and virtually timeless, shoes of this basic shape and style were quite popular in the early 1960’s – think Jacqueline Kennedy during her White House years.
I love the details on these. We’ll be discussing more details on clothing and accessories made before 1970. They were almost always done very carefully and artistically – more so than in later years. Just another example of the quality and craftsmanship found in true vintage apparel. . . . . . . . . . . . . . more reasons to adore it!

Even if you don’t have a Fifties dress to wear with it, put it under any long dress with a full-enough skirt and it becomes a GOWN. Just perfect to make an entrance at a holiday party. . . .
The full length, high-waist elastic slimming panel and back zipper are all unique. Crinoline netting is sandwiched between two layers of fabric for comfort and a smooth line.
Foundation garments were so important in the past – usually more issues to be considered than even now, like garters and boning. Their design was a real art and a science. There are companies now which make “foundation garments” and hosiery in the old style, if you want them. I ran into one in Australia!

They seem simple and unexciting by themselves but they have made a big difference in my overall results. Of course, there are more details involved with each one but the basic idea is where to begin.
FINDERS’ CLUE #2: BE OPEN-MINDED ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR – even if you are seeking a special item, if you are too narrow in your view, you will miss things that are right in front of you.

There are, of course, lots more details involved, with each one but the basic idea is where to begin. There are also myths about vintage that aren’t always true and it’s good to be aware of these.
TODAY’S CLUE: GO LOOKING OFTEN. Of course, you can go as often as you like but once a week is good if you can do that. You don’t have to buy each time, but look.
