IN THE BACK OF MY CLOSET . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I’ve had this one for a long time – really cute Swirl wrap dress from the early 1960’s. Had relegated it to the back of the closet because of a little minor damage and almost forgotten about it. The bandana ties on the shoulders are not original – I put them there to disguise a little color fade. Cute, no? Now that the hot weather is really upon us, I’ll be wearing it again. The wrap tie makes a good fit without fussy buttons or the need of a zipper. Just one button at the back of the neck. Swirl made nice casual dresses and I’ve got another one, plus a home-sewn version. These were very popular!

VINTAGE MODEL’S COAT JUST FOUND – I LOVE THESE!

img_2354I’ve always loved the garments made by this company, SWIRL, and this one is no exception.  It may not be as old as some of the ones I own, but still has the ’60’s – ’70’s applique’ and the great styling.

Like some other things (the dresses I just came up with . . . . .), you can never have too many . . . . . . .

ANOTHER TRUE VINTAGE WRAP-AROUND DRESS BY SWIRL

ANOTHER TRUE VINTAGE WRAP-AROUND DRESS BY SWIRL

Remember the red wrap-around by Swirl that I showed a few days ago? Here’s another of their creations, in the same basic design but with a very different feel.

Embroidered white flowers on china blue. It’s another one that I love and is so wearable.

These casual day dresses are some of the best things to find because they don’t require a “special occasion” to wear them and don’t need a lot of careful handling. My closets are full of dresses like this and I enjoy them daily!

Some of the most valuable things don’t have to be kept in a safe . . . . . . . . . . ..

A FAVORITE TRUE VINTAGE DRESS FROM THE LATE ’50S – EARLY ’60’S BY SWIRL

A FAVORITE TRUE VINTAGE DRESS FROM THE LATE '50S - EARLY '60'S BY SWIRL

This dress is one of my favorites from the 1950’s/early 1960’s. I have one or two others, and the style is very distinctive.  Applique’ decorations are a lot of fun on these older items, too.

It was made by Swirl and is a wrap-around. Easy to
wear with a flattering fit. One piece, with a belt that slips through and then ties in front.

I put the bandana bows on the shoulders due to some fade there (a common problem with true vintage items, due to storage) – and I like them! They go great with the cute flower.

Never fails to get compliments.  With some little red sandals, or even Keds . . . . . . . . . . . . .
