FRENCH MEN’S LEATHER & WOODEN CLOGS – SMALL ENOUGH FOR ME!

Just to keep the fare varied, here’s another pair of shoes – but men’s from France. I am not sure how old these are. They are a size 7B, which is a smallish and narrow men’s size. That works for my 8narrowB feet.
The uppers are leather with laces, black or dark navy. They look like an oxford, but have the full wooden sole, made like the wonderful Scandinavian clogs. Undoubtedly, they are hand-made.
I’m not sure if these are true vintage or not – they appear to be, but European shoes and garments have different labeling and so many are hand-done that it is hard to be sure. Â They are a very traditional French design.
Regardless, I love them. Â Such quality and style. They were a surprise find and I think they are delightful! Love clogs, anyway – it’s a very early ’70’s thing in the U.S. Â I wonder if I’ll see more of them when I go to Paris next June . . . . . . . . .. . . .

ANOTHER TRUE VINTAGE FAVORITE RAYON SHIRT FROM THE ’50’S – MEN’S AGAIN

One of my all-time favorite shirts again – with crazy chest detail! So many of the vintage men’s shirts had wonderful embroidered designs on front.
This one also has some little covered buttons to add to the motif. Â Unfortunately, one was missing and is a strange shape to replace, but I’ll keep looking. Until then, I added a touch of embroidery to fill the space. Â As on the dress yesterday, the buttons can be a major feature.
The material is also a nice drapey, rayon fabric in a wonderful rare shade of blue. True vintage fabrics take dye differently than modern fabrics and many of the colors are unique. Â I absolutely love finding these shirts in small sizes that I can wear!
You just never know when one might turn up, in the corner of a smokey bar . . .. . . . . . . . . . Oh, and as of tomorrow morning I’ll be on the road again for 2 – 3 weeks. So, I might just turn up somewhere in the corner of a smokey bar . . . . . . . . . . .. but posts will keep on coming, so stay tuned . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

TRUE VINTAGE MEN’S SHIRTS FROM THE 1950’S THAT I LOVE TO WEAR!
TRUE VINTAGE MEN’S SHIRTS FROM THE 1950’S THAT I LOVE TO WEAR!

These shirts are small men’s or large boys’ sizes that I can (just) wear and I LOVE THEM!!!! The fun stitching detail on the blue one and the fabulous print designs on the red ones are wonderful.
These were all commercially – made garments. The boys’ ones may have been sold in chain stores like J.C. Penney or Sears and Roebuck or Montgomery Ward – maybe elsewhere.
The boys’ shirts are made of a quite substantial cotton and the blue one, which is a man’s size, is lighter weight and might be a vintage rayon fabric, which is almost always really nice because of how it feels and fits.
Of course, these shirts don’t have a feminine fit, but still can look amazing on us girls and are so much fun to wear. A really nice edge-into-Fall element for your wardrobe, and I’ll be showing more . . . . . . . . . . . . .

TRUE VINTAGE 1940’S MEN’S LOUNGING OR SMOKING ROBE
TRUE VINTAGE 1940’S MEN’S LOUNGING OR SMOKING ROBE

OK, here’s the other men’s robe in my collection and, dare I say, it’s better than the last one! Same styling; marvelous black satin sash and trim but . . . . . . ..
look at that fabulous silky rayon(?) fabric and the really cool abstract/atomic pattern!! That’s what makes me suspect that it could be older than the last one.
This one really hangs out in the library with a cigar and a glass of cognac. Maybe you’re listening to Dick Tracy or The Shadow on WSPY.
Never mind. If the sleeves weren’t way too long, I’d probably be wearing it right now. Fixing that little issue would not be a big thing, but I also love it just as it is. Madge doesn’t care. Maybe one of these days . . . . . . . . . . . . . ..

TRUE VINTAGE 1950’S MEN’S SHORT-SLEEVED SUMMER SHIRT

Yes, and Suzie sells sea-shells by the sea shore. I just love shirts like this. Again, it’s the material that sets it apart from the lookalikes being made today. When you learn how to spot the real thing, you’ll rarely have to look twice.
Can’t you just see that Happy Days dad out there tending the barbecue? Or, maybe, Ken coming to pick up Barbie for a picnic lunch?
This is the kind of thing to be wearing now, guys, or put it under a sport jacket in Spring or Fall. It’s a shirt-tail that is meant to wear outside or tucked in. Very versatile.
It’s sure to make the vintage-savvy women in your world smile 🙂 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
