WAY SPECIAL TRUE VINTAGE MEN'S CARDIGAN SWEATER FROM THE 1960'S - READ ON . . . . . .

Say what?! That thing looks pretty ordinary to me . . . . .. but, it’s extraordinary . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Yes, it has very subtle, inconspicuous looks. “Who, me? I’m just a nice, well-made sweater like a million others . . . . . ..” But, this guy is one in a million!

If just being from the 1960’s, superbly made and like new is not enough, this is Mr. PURITAN AQUAknit himself!
100% lambswool that can be machine washed and dried – says so on the label!!

Well, if this Mr. P. A.q. has gone through the wash even once, then I’d say Bully Idea! But, we don’t know for sure if he has – I kind of think not. Could be why we don’t tend to see a lot of these – OR maybe they were just so good that they eventually wore out from so much use, OR they are still lurking in closets . .. . . . . . . . . . . . .. you really just never know . . . . . .

Anyway, this one is prime and was such fun to discover, with all his secrets . . . . . . . . . . . .

A MEN’S TRUE VINTAGE 1950’S – EARLY ’60’S WOOL CARDIGAN WITH CONTRASTING TRIM

A MEN'S TRUE VINTAGE 1950'S - EARLY '60'S WOOL CARDIGAN WITH CONTRASTING TRIM

Sticking with men’s fashion, we’re still in the ’50’s/’60’s era when cardigan sweaters were a big thing for both sexes. This one’s a very nice, heavy button-front knit for cold weather, with sculpted metal buttons, little pockets at the hips and smart-looking trim.

A favorite for Dad or Grandpa while they watched sports on TV. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

A FAVORITE MEN’S RAYON BATHROBE WITH AN ATOMIC PRINT FROM THE 1940’S – 1950’S

A FAVORITE MEN'S RAYON BATHROBE WITH AN ATOMIC PRINT FROM THE 1940'S - 1950'S

I’ve got a couple of men’s bath/smoking robes of this style – each with a very different feel. This rayon one is “dashing” and “modern” in color and fabric design, though it’s been around for a long time.

The satin trim is classic, as well as the style, which endures even now.

These fashions always remind me of film noir, a favorite genre of mine. See you tomorrow.

FRENCH MEN’S LEATHER & WOODEN CLOGS – SMALL ENOUGH FOR ME!

FRENCH MEN'S LEATHER &WOODEN CLOGS - SMALL ENOUGH FOR ME!

Just to keep the fare varied, here’s another pair of shoes – but men’s from France. I am not sure how old these are. They are a size 7B, which is a smallish and narrow men’s size. That works for my 8narrowB feet.

The uppers are leather with laces, black or dark navy. They look like an oxford, but have the full wooden sole, made like the wonderful Scandinavian clogs. Undoubtedly, they are hand-made.

I’m not sure if these are true vintage or not – they appear to be, but European shoes and garments have different labeling and so many are hand-done that it is hard to be sure.  They are a very traditional French design.

Regardless, I love them.  Such quality and style. They were a surprise find and I think they are delightful! Love clogs, anyway – it’s a very early ’70’s thing in the U.S.  I wonder if I’ll see more of them when I go to Paris next June . . . . . . . . .. . . .

ANOTHER TRUE VINTAGE FAVORITE SHIRT FROM THE ’50’S – MEN’S AGAIN

ANOTHER TRUE VINTAGE FAVORITE SHIRT FROM THE '50'S – MEN'S AGAIN.

ANOTHER TRUE VINTAGE FAVORITE RAYON SHIRT FROM THE ’50’S – MEN’S AGAIN

ANOTHER TRUE VINTAGE FAVORITE SHIRT FROM THE '50'S - MEN'S AGAIN

One of my all-time favorite shirts again – with crazy chest detail! So many of the vintage men’s shirts had wonderful embroidered designs on front.

This one also has some little covered buttons to add to the motif.  Unfortunately, one was missing and is a strange shape to replace, but I’ll keep looking. Until then, I added a touch of embroidery to fill the space.  As on the dress yesterday, the buttons can be a major feature.

The material is also a nice drapey, rayon fabric in a wonderful rare shade of blue. True vintage fabrics take dye differently than modern fabrics and many of the colors are unique.  I absolutely love finding these shirts in small sizes that I can wear!

You just never know when one might turn up, in the corner of a smokey bar . . .. . . . . . . . . . Oh, and as of tomorrow morning I’ll be on the road again for 2 – 3 weeks. So, I might just turn up somewhere in the corner of a smokey bar . . . . . . . . . . .. but posts will keep on coming, so stay tuned . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

TRUE VINTAGE MEN’S SHIRTS FROM THE 1950’S THAT I LOVE TO WEAR!

TRUE VINTAGE MEN'S SHIRTS FROM THE 1950'S THAT I LOVE TO WEAR!.

TRUE VINTAGE MEN’S SHIRTS FROM THE 1950’S THAT I LOVE TO WEAR!

TRUE VINTAGE MEN'S SHIRTS FROM THE 1950'S THAT I LOVE TO WEAR!

These shirts are small men’s or large boys’ sizes that I can (just) wear and I LOVE THEM!!!! The fun stitching detail on the blue one and the fabulous print designs on the red ones are wonderful.

These were all commercially – made garments. The boys’ ones may have been sold in chain stores like J.C. Penney or Sears and Roebuck or Montgomery Ward – maybe elsewhere.

The boys’ shirts are made of a quite substantial cotton and the blue one, which is a man’s size, is lighter weight and might be a vintage rayon fabric, which is almost always really nice because of how it feels and fits.

Of course, these shirts don’t have a feminine fit, but still can look amazing on us girls and are so much fun to wear. A really nice edge-into-Fall element for your wardrobe, and I’ll be showing more . . . . . . . . . . . . .
