ICONIC TRUE VINTAGE MID-FIFTIES SUMMER SKIRT AND BLOUSE

A full skirt (the original owner might have worn a crinoline underneath!) and a peasant blouse were popular outfits in both the 1940’s and 1950’s. I have most often seen them in old movies and TV programs.

The most special thing about this skirt is the Egyptian theme decoration printed all around. The colors are great, the cotton is soft and heavy. Should be worn with a wide belt.

The blouse is pretty, too, with the lacy ruffle. Off-the-shoulder necklines (it’s got elastic around the top) are super-flattering to almost every figure.

This would make a cute hostess outfit. It just says “get out and play” to me!

FROM SUNNY FLORIDA – A LIGHTWEIGHT RAYON BLOUSE FROM THE 1960’S

From a specialty shop in the Orange State, a breezy rayon blouse in citrus pastels. I love finding true vintage items with the labels of specialty shops in them because they are always unique and of high quality.

BETTER VIEW – TRANSFORMED 1930’S BEADED TUNIC

BETTER VIEW - TRANSFORMED 1930'S BEADED TUNIC

Here’s a better photo of the beaded tunic I showed about a month ago – transformed from a dress, which had irreparable fading and a stain on the skirt. This photo has much better light for seeing the detail of the decoration.

Mocha-color rayon crepe with iridescent black beads.

The skirt was easy to remove from under the “apron”, without interfering with the side zipper. Easy, also, to finish off the cut edge underneath.

Voila’ – a tunic top for any dressy or avant guarde ensemble. Just thought you’d like to take a better look. . . .

TRUE VINTAGE 1960’S – ’70’S POLYESTER FUNKY ART PRINT SHIRTS

TRUE VINTAGE 1960'S – '70'S POLYESTER SHIRTS.

TRUE VINTAGE 1960’S – ’70’S POLYESTER FUNKY ART PRINT SHIRTS

TRUE VINTAGE 1960'S - '70'S POLYESTER SHIRTS

Seventies shirts are always fun – polyester holds colors so vibrantly and the ’60’s & ’70’s were a time for great prints and designs.  Some of the graphics were kind of ugly, too, but that’s part of what makes them so fun to wear.  And some are really cute!

They’re good in cooler weather, but not for summer!  Polyester was one of the “miracle fabrics” in some ways, but it has its limitations.

These are recent finds which I have added to my everyday closet. Not haute couture by any means, but I enjoy these easy wear/easy care items. However, no matter how “ordinary”, never mistreat your vintage treasures!   I still care for them as if they were gold . . . . . . . . . . . . .
