JACKIE O – STYLE EARLY 1960’S DRESSY DAY DRESS ENSEMBLE

img_3872.jpg

Just came up with this one, too.  So many of the day dresses from this era were made to very elegant standards.  Although a lot of lace dresses have been made in the last few years, trying to duplicate this look, I’ve never seen one done to the level of quality and design as true vintage examples.

So, be vigilant and don’t be mislead by the vintage design charlatans and scam artists . . . .

TRUE VINTAGE 1940'S WWII AIR CORP UNIFORM JACKET W/DECORATIONS

This uniform jacket belonged to a family member who served in WWII. I especially love the little Peace medallion on the lapel.

“Hi” to my friend in Barcelona who loves these beautiful garments, too.

GORGEOUS TRUE VINTAGE FROCK, IN 1930’S STYLE

SOMETIMES TRUE VINTAGE RETRO IS PERFECT!

Morgana Martin, the magicvintagespy's avatarMagicvintagespy

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA     This is such a beautiful dress, in a slinky, sheer fabric that hugs the body.  With puffed sleeves and a LONG front streamer that crosses under the bosom to tie in front or back.

It’s cut on the bias, with panels inserted in the lower part of the skirt to make it swirl at mid-calf length.  There is also a dark blue slip-dress to wear underneath.

There is no label, and after careful examination I would say that this frock was made in the 1980’s or 1990’s, maybe by a small designer.  The construction is very professional.  At first, I had wondered if it was truly from the 1930’s, but I doubt it.

Such a beautiful mystery!  It bears further investigation.  The real joy is that it fits me so well . . . . .

1980’s DOES ’40’s – ’30’s GLAM RAYON VELVET GOWN

Although it’s definitely retro and not expensively made, this gown has so many of the true-to-style elements that evening frocks from the 1930’s and 1940’s did – I was delig…

Just found – I sometimes like TVR (true vintage retro-at least 30 years old and made in a retro style) garments if they are well-done.  I’ve recently found quite a few.

In this case, we’ve got a south-of-the-border print dress made by Brownstone Studio (a “better” modern brand) with true-to-the-Forties style and a lightweight rayon print shirt-waist in my favorite dark navy and white that kind of flutters as you walk.

For everyday, when I don’t want to have to be concerned about safeguarding a precious true vintage garment while I’m living life, these are just right.

A DISCO DANCE DIVA DISCOVERY FROM THE 1970’S

Yes, at first glance this looks like so many cheesy LBD’S made today and that’s why some discriminatory powers are important to develop.  I can tell when something is true vintage or no…

NEW FIND! STELLA IS A 1950’S SWEATER-GIRL

LOVE this new find!  True vintage sweaters are so rare and this one is in very good condition.  In a color that I can wear well (+++!) I’ll enjoy it for years.  The fit is very fetching, in the popular Fifties style, enhancing not only the bust-line but also the waist, too.  The sleeves fit well and it has a small basket-weave knit pattern.  What could be better?!

Cute sweaters are made now, but nothing fits better than a vintage knit – especially from eras when there was a strong sense of body-conscious fit and the 1950’s was certainly one of them.  I love the va-va-voom disguise as much as anyone so – here goes . . . . . . . . . . .
