MUST HAVE A NECKLACE WITH THAT PARTY DRESS? HERE’S A PERFECT ONE . . . . . . . ..

MUST HAVE A NECKLACE WITH THAT PARTY DRESS? HERE'S A PERFECT ONE . . . . . . . ..

This would be a great piece to wear with the cocktail dress just shown. Rhinestones and baroque “pearls” in white, along with champagne-colored accent “pearls” on the chain. Sorry the focus is a little off.

That dress doesn’t need a thing with it, and certainly DON’T wear showy earrings with this necklace. But, as one statement piece, this lovely collar would really shine.

What a find! It looked like a lost cause, but I fixed it up in no time. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

MY TRUE VINTAGE 1950’S – EARLY 1960’S PF FLYERS TENNIS SHOES WITH POINTED TOES

MY TRUE VINTAGE 1950'S - EARLY 1960'S PF FLYERS TENNIS SHOES WITH POINTED TOES

These are favorites of mine – as much as the red and black plaid sneakers I showed before. I can’t believe that they would make tennis shoes with pointy toes!!!!!!

The toes don’t show so well in this photo because I wanted to show the PF logo clearly, and they aren’t quite as much of a “needle” as the red and black ones. But, they are definitely different.

I also love old Keds, and usually think of them with a rounder toe. Truthfully, I have not found some of the oldest Keds and they do, technically, pre-date PF Flyers.

No doubt the pointed toes were a fashion fad and many of the shoe-makers followed it for a while. That’s usually what happens, right?

Anyway, when you go back to the late ’30’s and ’40’s there are many styles of canvas shoes which are classics and have been repeated by several companies. It’s fun to collect styles and colors.

I like the quality of the old ones vs. any modern shoes. After all, I want my “sneakers” to last . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Ho – hum, gloves . . . . .? Not these. There is nothing more stylish and luxurious than a beautiful pair of kid-skin gloves, while they also protect your hands.

Beautifully-made and elegant in lines, many that I have found have no decoration – many have small subtle designs near the wrist. Some, like the beige pair, have decorated panels of crochet or contrasting leather. The variations are endless. I’ll be showing more of them . . . . .

These gloves are not meant for really cold weather, but they’re great for what we’re into now. If looked after, they’ll last a long time.

Don’t wear these if you have a dirty job ahead, but for something more delicate and when you’d rather not leave fingerprints . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. .

I just HAD to have these when I found them! It’s interesting how they look so much like the fashion that became really popular in the early 1980’s “New Wave” era. The Fifties did some really fun, dramatic styling when they were coming out of their conservative period – think about fins on cars that were made then.

These pumps escape looking trashy by the fact that they are quality footwear, well-made of leather and not over-the-top in terms of the design. Their elegance makes them wearable with almost any type of outfit. In my opinion, that’s the way to make dramatic looks really effective, rather than just faddish or cheap and easy to forget (along with the person wearing them!)  Vintage-era designers knew this.

A follower asked me yesterday how I date clothing, etc. and it’s not an easy thing to answer in a few words. Mostly, I just “know”. There are lots of little bits and pieces of information and know-how, like with any type of experience.  The evidence is out there . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
