UNPACKING ANOTHER TRUE VINTAGE OUTFIT FOR FALL

I love my cotton skirt and vest set from the late 1970’s. The style had a real moment then and this one is by Mr. Leonard, which was a leading manufacturer of women’s clothing from 1965 until it’s closing in 1999. Cool and casual makes it perfect for September while we’re still having warm days but are in the mood for Autumn colors. It’s pretty easy to dress up or down for daytime, too. Looks just as great with a classic blouse or a t-shirt.

The nicest thing is the quality. Nice fabric, well-constructed. The vest is fully lined with a dark green fabric that keeps it’s shape and minimizes wear. Despite it’s age, it looks almost new. That’s probably my favorite thing about true vintage clothing and accessories, second only to the fabulous style and elegance.

I’ll have to continue unpacking, so stay tuned . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ..

1970’S COTTON SKIRT AND VEST BY MISTER LEONARD

img_3564.jpg

Just found this casual but classic 100% cotton plaid set in a beloved style from the mid-Seventies.  Mister Leonard was a popular Canadian clothing label started in 1965, making sportswear that sold in several major department stores.  It prospered until the late 1980’s and finally closed in 1999, due to market pressures and the declining health of it’s founder.

For Summer and into Fall, nothing could be more comfortable and cute than an ensemble like this, which could be worn everyday at home or tricked up a bit for work. Pure cotton clothing is always desirable, but the quality of this fabric sets it apart as well as tailoring details which are uncommon today.

Just my size, too!  Here’s another keeper . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

“NEW” DISCOVERY! TRUE VINTAGE LATE 1960’S FLOWER-POWER BLOUSE BY MISTER LEONARD

IMG_1716This is the most wonderful sheer flower-print blouse with big pirate sleeves!!!  It’s so FLOWER POWER in the colors that were popular then.

All the telling tailoring signs of the time are there, too – the cut and the finishing details.  Can’t wait to photograph it on Stella, who will give the style it’s correct shape.

But, the best shape is when I get to wear it!  And, it’s just my size . . . . . . . . . .
