TRUE VINTAGE MID-CENTURY CASUAL GINGHAM & MEXICAN SILVER JEWELRY

These garments are from the mid-century, and a bit difficult to date – especially the blouse. It almost looks like a square-dancing costume. With jeans or a skirt it’s super-cute. I love gingham in almost anything and really enjoy wearing these. It’s so cute and has been classic for decades.
The real star of this post is the jewelry – from Mexico anywhere from the 1930’s to 1950’s, I’d say. Beautiful quality in 925 silver and inlaid mother-of-pearl. Pendant, pins and earrings – they’re great with casual, Western-wear clothing and can be dressed up, too. They really are of fine quality and workmanship – like nothing I see today. Looked for something similar in Mexico last year, but these are the winners.
I’ll be going to Chicago this weekend, so will be off-line for a couple of days. Wonder what I’ll discover. May have some fun things to report when I return!

BEAUTIFUL BLUE 1950’S – EARLY 1960’S SPECIAL OCCASION DRESS & SHOES

I have so many “new” finds to share with you! This frock is one of them, and the shoes to go along – not an original set, but they complement each other fabulously. The pumps have fabric-covered uppers and are vintage Naturalizer, same era.
Yesterday I did not mention re: the mink-trimmed dress that it has THREE (yes, 3!) sets of strap-holder loops sewn in the neckline. Front, shoulder and back to keep your lingerie out of sight. If that isn’t quality and elegance, I don’t know what is! Most of my nice true vintage dresses have this feature.
This illustration of vintage bras (a newer picture, from a recent issue of Energy Times, believe it or not) is fun and probably exactly what Stella would be wearing under any of the dresses I’ve shown recently. Fun for a Madonna concert, maybe, but can’t imagine wearing one . . . . .
