HERE ARE THE MATCHING SHOES . . . . .
A relatively rare find, early ’60s pumps a lot like the ones my mother wore in 1963. I was surprised to see the metallic finish, but these are definitely true vintage. I’m not sure if they are patent leather or not – the soles are man-made but the insoles are part leather. Just enough of the markings are left, as well as the appearance overall, to show that they are at least 50 years old, though in excellent condition!
They are almost a perfect color match for the dress which I just posted, and would look very good with it. They were another surprise find, which completely delighted me.
As always, you just never know . . . . .

This plain-looking frock has many characteristics which set it apart. I immediately spotted it as true vintage, but am especially drawn to the colors and print of the fabric.
Yes, it is pure cotton material – hand-tailored, with styling detail (a couple of tucks at the waist that make it look like it could be a 2-piece dress, which was a popular style in the early ’60’s). A-line cut, knee/below knee length and metal zipper in back.
It’s well-made in an enduring style but the cloth is the greatest “souvenir” of my trip to New Zealand. The colors and pattern are so much like the paintings and weaving done by the Maori – the original citizens of this land – a great thing to take home!
