I COULDN’T RESIST! JOIN ME FOR A SEPTEMBER SERIES

Just in time for the Labor Day weekend, I searched the archives for photos and old posts that you might enjoy at this time of year. Although, like last time, it doesn’t cover nearly everything from my collection history there’s always time for that later. Many published photos have gone astray somehow over the last few years and will have to be re-taken but should be much better with the choice of the 3 models I have now.

It’s always fun for me to review the wardrobe archives and I must also be thinking about October . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

THANK YOU, ALL, FOR PARTICIPATING IN MY SUMMER TRUE VINTAGE CLOSET REVIEW

THANK YOU, ALL, FOR PARTICIPATING IN MY SUMMER TRUE VINTAGE CLOSET REVIEW

So, that’s done for now and we’re on to the Fall fashion season. So much going on for all of us. I’m musing about whether to do another series right away. There are still a trunk-load of finds from the past two years to catalog for you, as well as a thorough wardrobe review when I finally return to Headquarters. I will be sharing a lot of documentary evidence at that time.

As is, likely, also very true for you, daily life remains “up in the air”. For that reason, there are no announcements to be made at this hot minute. But, keep the circuits open and stay tuned because you will be the first to know . . . . . . . . .

1950’S – EARLY 1960’S RETRO FROCK – A MODERN EXCEPTION TO THE RULE (SORT OF – a little rant about tailoring and quality)

MOD TRUE VINTAGE 1960’S LIME GREEN DRESS

MOD TRUE VINTAGE 1960’S LIME GREEN DRESS

So, here’s a Summer mini-dress for hot days.  Non-stop cuteness from the 1960’s in a breezy A-line style, kind of MOD.  So easy-wear with adjustable back ties and front button closure.

This one was custom-tailored.  Nicely finished at the neckline and armholes with matching liner.  The fabric is a loosely-woven hopsack-y type, which was very popular in the late 1960’s.

A 1960’S HOME-SEWN SUMMER SCOOTER DRESS

A 1960’S HOME-SEWN SUMMER SCOOTER DRESS

How cute is this – and, in wonderful condition?!  Nice two-tone probably cotton fabric, with a flippy pleated skirt and button tab decoration at the hip-line.  It was fashioned at home by a seamstress with confidence who made exactly what she wanted, with a perfect fit for her.  It’s a little big on me, but the style makes it super-easy to alter the size.

I can just imagine Ann-Margret in a frock like this one, riding on the back of a scooter in a mid-century movie.  What a treat!
