REMEMBER – THIS BLOG PUBLISHES PICTURES OF ONLY ONE VINTAGE-HUNTER’S CLOSET: MINE!

This is the plunder of my years as the Magicvintagespy, from my own closets.  There are no photos from web archives, magazines, etc.  Many other people do that beautifully.

Here, I want to show you what’s out there ….. just around the corner, waiting for you . . . . .   Although I’ve found some great things years ago, most of what I have and you will see has been discovered very recently and everything is a surprise!

Keep your mind open about what you may find rather than looking only for the faddish styles.  It’s the best way to be unique, and you just never know . . . . . .

UNEXPECTED TRIP TO TOWN YESTERDAY – FOUND MORE SURPRISES!

It just goes to show that opportunity is always knocking!  I had a couple of hours while my husband ran other errands and found a great 1970s dress and some lingerie pieces from the ’50s – ’60s.  Bought one slip and passed on the other – the decision was easy.  Will be taking photos of the new discoveries this week so that they can be shared soon.

ALL THE ERRANDS DONE WITH TIME TO DIG FOR TREASURE!

I struck gold with some dresses from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s.  There was lots of ’80s and ’90s fashion, too, though I don’t usually collect anything from later than early 1980s and then, only on occasion.  Photos will start coming out soon, after we get through the late winter and early Spring stuff.  It was in the 20s Farenheit in my town yesterday, so we’re not out of it yet!

HOW TO USE THIS BLOG THE IN BEST WAYS

First off, I want to thank everyone who follows me here, on Facebook, Twitter and at Google+ for joining me and enjoying what I do.  I really appreciate your comments, LIKES and Pinterest re-pins because it lets me know I’m helping and spreading the fun!

Although my blog is not made up of pages from my book, you can still learn a lot from it.  If the photo some day doesn’t appeal to you as something you would wear, take the time to read about it anyway.   I’ve been collecting true vintage since before I was out of high school, so you’ll see what the real deal looks like and get a description of what makes it unique, lovable and special.  I also give ideas about how to wear  things that may not have occurred to you before – really expands the possibilities for something that might have looked limited to you at first.  All this helps you to think about what you would like to look for that will work for you and let you make your own personal fashion statement.

You’ll see lots of items that you won’t see anywhere else, because that’s one of the things so great about true vintage – most of it wasn’t mass-produced in a jillion copies of the same thing and a lot of it has gone by the way-side since its original time.

Although I’d have to say that I write mostly for people who don’t have a lot of experience at collecting true vintage and want to learn from my adventures, there’s something here for everyone from newbies to experts.  I know that I enjoy posts by other experienced collectors, too.  There’s always something new to see and you just never know . . . . .
