THE MYSTERIOUS CRAFT OF MANIFESTING TRUE VINTAGE FASHION - FINDERS' CLUE #4

Finding true vintage clothing and accessories is not rocket science. But, having lots of success at finding wonderful things and finding them often DOES involve many pieces of know-how, skill and experience that come together.

Though these tips may seem simple, they have made a big difference in my success as a vintage-hunter. Of course, there are more details involved but the basic idea is where to start.

CLUE #4: IT’S IN THE DETAILS OF THE DETAILS.

Look at the design in this photo. First, it is an unusual motif of little drums and doesn’t have a modern look. But, if you look closely you’ll see that the applique’ (how the design is sewn on) is done by hand. That’s something you will not find now in a manufactured item. This photo is of a top with matching capri pants from the 1950’s.

So, look carefully at the details of an item because they will tell you a story . .. . . . . . . .. . .

TRUE VINTAGE 1960’S SPRING & SUMMER STILETTO PUMPS IN NEUTRAL BEIGES AND WHITE

TRUE VINTAGE 1960'S SPRING & SUMMER STILETTO PUMPS IN NEUTRAL BEIGES AND WHITE

Two-tone beige pumps can be worn virtually any time of year, with almost anything. Notice the cut-out and applique’ detail – and, of course, with genuine leather uppers.

You’ll probably want to wait until June to start wearing your white pumps with pretty summer frocks or suits. These are in leather, also, by a famous maker of true vintage footwear, Red Cross Shoes.

Although very classic and virtually timeless, shoes of this basic shape and style were quite popular in the early 1960’s – think Jacqueline Kennedy during her White House years.

I love the details on these. We’ll be discussing more details on clothing and accessories made before 1970. They were almost always done very carefully and artistically – more so than in later years. Just another example of the quality and craftsmanship found in true vintage apparel. . . . . . . . . . . . . . more reasons to adore it!

WE ARE NOW 100! A REAL MILESTONE – THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

One of you just became my 100th follower.  I am so thrilled and grateful that I can hardly tell you.

This is a real milestone for me – it supports what I am doing and tells me that, in addition to having a ton of fun, I’m doing something that others are enjoying, too, and that you find it valuable.

If any of you are also interested in global consciousness and making our reality and world better for ourselves and everyone else, (Duh – like you wouldn’t be), there was a little book written in the late ’60s or the ’70s entitled The Hundredth Monkey.  It’s based on science, and tells how thoughts and behaviors spread like wildfire from one person to another, faster and faster after the group reaches 100.  Fortunately, positive thoughts and behaviors have much more power to spread than negative ones do.

We can all change our lives and our world.  Be positive, be happy, see the best in everything and thank you for being 100 with me!!!

LATE ANSWERS TO YOUR COMMENTS

AS I SAID BEFORE – AND I HOPE I’LL SAY IT MANY MORE TIMES – I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR YOUR COMMENTS AND SUPPORT!  THANK YOU!!

I MUST APOLOGIZE TO THOSE OF YOU WHO COMMENTED SOME TIME AGO AND HAVE JUST NOW RECEIVED A RESPONSE.  SINCE I AM NOT A TECHIE, I’M VERY SLOW AT UNDERSTANDING HOW TO NAVIGATE MY BLOG HOST AND USE IT BEST.   I’VE GOT IT NOW AND WILL BE FAST!

QUESTIONS FOR ME LEFT AS COMMENTS

Hi, everybody.  Going back over a comment list, I saw several questions (and remarks that I would like to say Thank You for).  I’m not a techie and can’t find any way of responding to you without using my personal e-mail address. I’d prefer not to do that for security reasons.  Some people I have responded to by replying to a comment on their own blog pages.

If you have a blog and I can go there to answer you, please leave the address.  I’d be happy to! If you LIKE a post, or start to follow me I can find you, too, as I’ll be notified of that.  Sorry if this seems impersonal – it just seems wise to follow these guidelines in the cyber-world.

A couple of your questions had to do with blogging.  As I said, I am not a techie but I have found it easy to set up my blog with WordPress.  There are limits to what you can do, depending on whether you wish to invest any money in the process.  In terms of back-up of your material in the case of hacking – there may not be any.  One thing you can do is to buy a plug-in back-up stick and save everything daily.  That way, you’d have it on the back-up in case of a glitch.

Hope that helps.  I’ll see about other ways of enabling comments on the blog page.  Thanks for writing!

THE MYSTERIOUS CRAFT OF MANIFESTING TRUE VINTAGE FASHION – FINDERS’ CLUE #2

Finding true vintage fashion items is not rocket science.  Having lots of success at it DOES involve many pieces of knowledge, skill and experience that come together.  They seem simple and unexciting by themselves but they have made a big difference in my overall results.  Of course, there are more details involved with each one but the basic idea is where to begin.

FINDERS’ CLUE #2: BE OPEN-MINDED ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR – even if you are seeking a special item, if you are too narrow in your view, you will miss things that are right in front of you.

Hope this helps.  Next clue in two weeks . . . . .
