I have one even older: knitted of wool so fine it is smaller than thread. What great patience my great Aunt had. It is so delicate I am afraid to wash it.
I agree that they make one feel “dressed up” no matter what else you are wearing
That sounds like such a prize, and a definite keeper! I agree, not to wash unless it becomes necessary but sometimes it does, eventually. A gentle soak in cold water and Woolite (or similar product), rinse then air dry on a towel on the bed/floor should do the trick without damage. Just use your sink or bathtub. Thanks for sharing!
